High Speed VTOLs bring in some unique features to the table. Imagine an HM Ambassador Car and the latest Honda Accord having similar fuel consumption per Km of travel. As an Operator, you use the same set of drivers who drive both the cars around with passengers. Point A to Point B takes 8 hours of drive using the Ambassador and its possible speed. The same distance is completed in less than 3.5 hours using the Honda Accord. With cost of procurement of the car being almost the same – which one do you think is more profitable to operate?
High speed VTOLs travel at a speed 3 times those of a Helicopter with a range 1.5 times that of a Helicopter. Price almost similar to a helicopter. These beautiful machines are a game changer for the Operator Market.
Even from a Consumer or a Commuter perspective, reaching a destination 3 times faster at a cost less than half of that of a helicopter does bring in a deeper desire to travel by a High Speed VTOL as compared to Helicopter. VIPs/Corporate Executives/Politicians or even the common man will see a larger usage of the High Speed VTOLs in the coming days.
There birds are still not electric and use the normal aviation fuel, but there is a roadmap to quickly move into the electric mode as soon as technology catches up and super high density batteries are available for commercial use. Today’s technology is no where close to the kind of power needed vis a vis the weight ratio of these batteries.
